Organic pet food has become a popular option in the UK as people become more aware of the dangers of over-feeding and over-eating.
Terra organic products were popular with British shoppers in 2014, but this year sales have been boosted by demand from customers in the US and Europe, said the company.
Terra Organic Foods said sales of its organic pet foods had increased by 33% compared with the same period last year, with customers switching from non-organic to organic pet meals.
“In the UK, pet owners are finding that pet food from Terra is much better than the conventional pet food available in supermarkets, with pet owners choosing Terra for a number of reasons,” the company said in a statement.
“Terra is the only brand of pet food that is guaranteed organic, and it has a long history of working to provide the best food for our pets, which is why we have been able to sell pet food for more than 40 years.”
Terra Pet Food, which was founded in 1968, is a subsidiary of Australian-based Terra Brands, which owns brands such as Puddles, Paws, and Rascal.
Terrax Brands chief executive Mark Cairns said Terra was making a number to be proud of, and said the growth in pet food sales was good news for customers.
“We’ve had a huge increase in pet-related sales in the last year,” he said.
“The pet food industry has changed a lot in the past 40 years, but with our pet-friendly pet products we are continuing to deliver the best in pet nutrition and care.”
Terrapin said sales in 2017 had been down on the same year a year earlier, with only a handful of the company’s pet products selling in the market.
However, the company was pleased with its sales, with the company earning $1.8m for the year.
The firm said it had also seen a steady increase in the number of customers using the Terra Pet Food website.
